Siemens, the German technology company, has announced plans to expand its Lisbon Tech Hub, an internal competency centre for information technology (IT) services.
The Lisbon Tech Hub launched in 2014 with an initial workforce of 40. Since then, headcount has increased significantly, and more than 1,300 staff are now employed at the site. Of around 300 positions currently available across Siemens’ Portugal operations, 160 new roles are described as being dedicated IT roles.
From its Portugal offices, Siemens supports IT services throughout the company’s global operations, with a focus on areas such as artificial intelligence, big data, software testing and development, cloud and infrastructure services. Among projects currently in progress is the “Mendix App Factory”, described as scalable, collaborative platform for low code application development.
Siemens has also recently strengthened its cybersecurity team in Portugal, with 100 staff now engaged in the detection and analysis of online threats.
