Airbus, the multinational aerospace corporation, has announced plans to create an additional 300 jobs at its Global Business Services (GBS) centre in the Portuguese capital Lisbon.
Located in Parque das Nações, the company is targeting total headcount of 800 by 2025 in roles managing administrative, transactional, reporting and IT services, mainly in support of Airbus’ Finance, HR, Procurement, IM, Engineering, Communication, Customer Services, Legal and Compliance departments.
Lisbon was chosen as the location for the GBS centre due to factors such as locally available talent, quality of life, and Portugal’s existing aeronautics ecoystem, Airbus Portugal managing director Charles Huguet is quoted as saying.
New Airbus offices are also expected to open in other major Portuguese towns and cities, such as Braga and Coimbra, Mr Huguet added.
The Instituto Superior Técnico and Politécnico de Setúbal (Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal),the Instituto do Emprego e Formação Profissional (Institute for Employment and Vocational Training / IEFP), global trade entity AICEP, and the AED Aeronautics, Space and Defence cluster are among the universities and institutions already working with Airbus in Portugal.
