Tourism firm Tellus is building a new luxury eco-hotel in São Francisco da Serra, in the municipality of Santiago do Cacém, in Portugal’s Setúbal district, via an investment of €1.3 million.
A partnership with the Norwegian firm Reframe Arkitektur, the project has secured €500,000 from EEA Grants, a financial mechanism drawing on funds from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway to support projects in 15 European countries with the aim of contributing to “a more equal Europe, in social and economic terms”.
The 4-star hotel will have a total of 12 rooms, including four suites and four cabins, as well as a bar and spa. The hotel, which is based on circular economy principles applied to both design and construction, will be built using materials with minimal environmental impact.
Construction is set to take eight months, with the hotel due to open its doors on 22nd April 2022, coinciding with World Earth Day.
